Support for Women Experiencing Miscarriage, Stillbirth, and Early Infant Loss in Northern Colorado

WOMEN OF VALOR: SHARON’S STORY

One of the many supportive services that Alpha Center offers is Women of Valor, a support group & system for women who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, and/or early infant loss. Sharon, one of our co-leaders, shared with us why she is involved and her passion for helping women who are going through the same situation.

I lost my daughter Alyson during labor in July 2012.  She was a full-term, beautiful little girl with no heartbeat.  My family and I were completely blindsided by the loss, and we were devastated.  My life got thrown upside down, as I didn’t know how to process my grief, how to keep parenting my two older children, or how to keep believing in a God who would allow this to happen.  I was so blessed to be held up by believers in my church and my community.  But what I was so desperate for was a faith-based support network of other moms who had lost their babies.  I needed to be around other women who were asking the same hard questions I was, and who were looking to see God’s goodness in our brokenness. Women of Valor has been such a gift to me in this way.  To share our stories and lean on each other is an amazing picture of the body of Christ at work.

I’ve helped lead the most recent WoV small group, which has been such an honor.  As a veteran grieving mom, I’ve been blessed to show these hurting women that God is so faithful and that He really does create beauty from ashes.  What a powerful experience, to see that God brings us through the impossible.

Women of Valor will continue to be here, whenever moms who’ve lost their precious babies are in need of support.
